As the practice of smudging has become more commonplace in popular culture, white sage is now at-risk due to over-harvesting and foraging in the wild. Commercial harvesting and "wildcrafting" have led to the demise of wild stands across the country. You can help stop this greedy endeavor by not purchasing any white sage unless you are absolutely certain it has been ethically cultivated.

I started growing my own white sage 3 years ago and now have 7 large, healthy plants that I lovingly care for! Any naturally shed leaves are collected and dried for personal use and/or shared with friends. Burning a single leaf can provide the same benefits as a smudge stick, but without the waste and disrespect of taking down an entire plant.

I've decided to share my leftover, naturally shed leaves with you. These are loose-leaf and while I do my best to clean them, they are harvested from the ground after natural shedding, so you might find a little sand on them. Each 4"x4"x2" package contains roughly 50 loose leaves from my personal plants. (Which are pictured in the listing above!) This listing will come and go, based on how many leaves my plants decide to share with me at any given time.

Please do your part to stop the over-harvesting of this beautiful plant! Do not purchase commercially-harvested sage sticks, or any sage where you can't track down the source. And make sure that source is ethically cultivated. It's our responsibility to protect this planet and the life that inhabits it.
